Foreshore expands its Mimecast Offshore email infrustructure
Foreshore has further developed the infrastructure it uses to deliver its range of email services.
The expansion of its existing service provision is the result of a strategic partnership between Foreshore and Mimecast, a leading international email technology innovator, to form Mimecast Offshore. Its advanced email solutions have been tailored specifically for offshore jurisdictions and are delivered through Foreshore’s world-class datacentre infrastructure.
Since Mimecast Offshore was officially launched in late 2006 Foreshore has signed up a number of new clients both in the Channel Islands and across various offshore jurisdictions in the Caribbean.Foreshore’s email security, continuity and archiving services provide built-in anti-spam, anti-virus, business continuity and compliance as key benefits and, when used in conjunction with each other, form a unified and seamless email management package.
The expansion invloved the addition of a number of servers including additional anti-spam servers to give more flexibility to the client. This is providing extra capacity and extra throughput to deal with an ever-increasing customer base. In addition to the hardware upgrade there have also been a number of software upgrades which provide additional functionality to Mimecast users. One of these upgrades is an Outlook plug-in, which allows for greater integration between Outlook and Mimecast. Archive email searches can now be carried out from within Outlook because of this ease of integration. The upgrade also enables seamless failover to the Mimecast system in the event of a disaster or hardware failure, so that users are able to carry on using Outlook sending and receiving email even though their exchange server would not be working.
Andrew Jarrett, Foreshore’s Sales and Marketing Director, explained:
"We launched our Mimecast Offshore services in 2006 to address the email continuity and long term email archival requirements of our local and international clients. The response has exceeded initial expectations with half the major Caribbean independent banks, and four out of five of the multi-jurisdictional law firms in the region, signing up for the service."
"This extremely encouraging start clearly demonstrates that financial services companies are serious about ensuring that their client data is securely stored in an appropriate jurisdiction and that Jersey is seen as having the right legislation and technical infrastructure to meet their needs. Furthermore, it shows local businesses like Foreshore can, with the right strategic relationships, deliver quality services to a global market."
Mimecast’s Chief Executive Officer Peter Bauer added:
"Jersey is increasingly being seen as the disaster recovery and data archiving capital of the offshore world. To meet the growth in demand for our services, we have been expanding our Mimecast Offshore infrastructure investments on the island within the state-of-the-art Foreshore datacentres. Besides strong local demand within the Channel Islands, we have seen the large Caribbean banks and law firms signing up to our Jersey hosted services. The latest upgrades, which include both hardware and software, will ensure optimal performance and resilience for all the users of our services."
