FORESHORE’S Technical Director has been rewarded for holding a prestigious industry certificate for 10 years.
In 1999, Derek Fage became the first person in Jersey to achieve Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification, which is globally accepted as the most prestigious networking certification in the industry. Certification includes a written examination and a practical laboratory-based exam.
Mr Fage has now received a 10th anniversary award and letter from Cisco Systems president and CEO John Chambers to congratulate him for his achievement.
’On the 10th anniversary of your certification, we want to take a moment to honour your work in our industry, to thank you for representing all of us through your effort, your integrity and your commitment to excellence. Each CCIE certification holder has a lot to be proud of, and together we will continue to set the standard for excellence in our industry,’ said Mr Chambers in his letter.
Mr Fage has worked for Foreshore since its inception in 2000 having previously worked in Jersey in networking consultancy and systems management.
’It’s an honour for me to receive this and I am extremely touched that Cisco recognised the achievement of holding this certification for 10 years. It has proved extremely valuable in my work and demonstrates my knowledge and the level of service which I, and the team here at Foreshore, are able to provide to our customers,’ he said.
Network Engineers holding an active Cisco CCIE certification are recognised for their expert network engineering skills and mastery of Cisco products and solutions. Holders are required to recertify every two years to maintain the standard of the certification which was introduced in 1993. CCIE certification holders represent less than 3% of all certified Cisco professionals and less than 1% of the networking professionals worldwide.
Foreshore Managing Director Chris Evans said that the recognition is well deserved: ’To gain this qualification in the first instance is a challenge but to maintain the necessary standard for 10 years is a huge achievement. Derek’s experience and expertise are enormously valued by both his clients and his colleagues and I echo John Chambers in honouring his contribution in setting the standard within our industry.’
